Download: Recommended Usage:
  • Instructions are packaged with the CM Engine download as a pdf file.
  • To help ensure accuracy, plate images should be captured at a resolution of 300 dpi.
  • It is recommended that a high quality scanner, capable of scanning in transmissive mode, be used to capture digital images of plates. Transmissive mode scans eliminate many artifacts caused by reflected light and result in higher contrast images than reflected light scans. In addition, the use of a scanner will help reduce any vignetting and fisheye effect that may be present in images captured using a digital camera.
  • In order to capture multi-plate images a black mask may be used. The Rothstein lab uses a custom built PlexiGlas 3 x 3 scanning template to roughly align plates on the scanner bed and mask the light between plates. A scanning template may also be made out of cardboard. For help making your own scanning template please contact the Rothstein Lab at the link above.
